Russia - No longer in service. Was in operational use from 1943 until it was replaced by the SKS in the late 40's.

Other Nations - Many rifles were exported to various Marxists around the world.  Some include: Afganistan, Grenada, Cuba, with Palestinian guerrilla's, and Syria.

Bulgaria, The People's Republic of China, Hungary, Poland, Romania, all made versions of the M-44 for their own domestic use.
