More about the uniform... This uniform was a very simple modification of the M-1969 summer enlisted parade uniform. The only thing that was changed was the belt - which replaced the brown artificial leather belt with the white artificial leather belt shown above. Badges and medals were authorized to be worn with this uniform, which consists of: the M-1969 enlisted jacket and trousers, the M-1969 enlisted visor cap, artificial leather boots, white parade belt, brass enlisted buckle, and the M-1966 green shirt and tie. The cap band, shoulder boards, and collar tab backings would all match the soldier's branch of service (motor rifle in this case). This uniform was authorized for wear by all army sergeants, soldiers, and cadets. |
Service Chronology As mentioned above, the enlisted summer parade uniform was a modification of the M-1969 summer enlisted parade uniform. It was adopted during a wave of minor uniform changes shortly after the major change in regulations in 1969. In fact, the only change was the use of the white belt in place of the brown one. This uniform continued to be used for the remainder of the Cold War, and even persisted for a few years after the fall of the Soviet Union. It was only fully replaced in 1994 when the new Russian Federation uniforms were authorized. |
