 M-1969 Officer Parade Dress Uniform
(Out of Formation)

Captain of Motor Rifles

The Officer is Wearing:
The summer out of formation parade uniform for summer.  It is worn by officers, warrant officers, and extended service personnel.  It should be noted that warrant officers still must wear the branch of service shoulder patch on their jacket.  The trousers have red piping to denote officer rank.
White gloves and gold parade belt are also worn with this uniform.  Medals and badges are authorized, but ribbons are not.

It should be noted that between 1970 and 1974 regulations on wearing medals changed.  Before this time medals were worn on the lapel, but by 1974 they were worn on horizontal medal bars.

Service Chronology

The Officer Parade Dress Uniform for out of formation use was one of the uniforms introduced during the 1969 reforms.  Along with the other uniforms of this period, it went on to become one of the iconic uniforms of the Soviet Union during the Cold War.  It replaced the short-lived officer uniform of 1958.  The uniform went on to outlive the Soviet Union, and was only replaced with the introduction of the first Russian Federation uniforms in 1994.  You will also be able to read more about these uniforms when they are obtained and added to the website.
