The Soviet Superpower
Selected Civilian and Political Items
(1960-1978)

No discussion about a nations military can be complete without showing the civilian life of the time. This is because no military exists in a vacuum, it is a product of its times. This section will try to give the reader a glimpse of what life was like during the era. It will feature pictures, history, stories, and other facets of Soviet civilian life during the period between 1960 and 1978.

Trade Unionist Book (1975-1978)

Here we have a trade unionist booklet that was used by a worker during the mid 1970's.  This 14 page booklet is written in both Russian and Latvian - indicating that it comes from one of the Baltic Republics which was then part of the Soviet Union.  The first few pages contain the member's basic information, while the later pages hold boxes which are for stamps.  These stamps indicate that the union member had paid his dues for the month and was in good standing.
