The ГО-24 kit and components

The sealed AP-1 indicator film packets are part of a larger ГО-24 (GO-24) kit.

The ГО-24 is a small white box that contains ten sealed AP-1 indicator film packets and a 10 page instruction manual.

The last two pages of the manual have forms for recording data observations.

The AP-1 Packet

Each of the ten sealed AP-1 indicator film packets is marked with its production number (in this case 655) and its date of manufacture (May, 1981).  This is required as the chemically treated films have a finite shelf life, after which they become ineffective.

The two yellow rectangles indicate the concentration of VX nerve agent based on the color change of the film.

Within the packet is a sheet of brief instructions and a black paper case containing two sealed sets of indicator film.

Indicator Film Strips

Inside the black paper envelope are two sealed packets of yellow indicator film.

Each sealed packet contains ten strips of film.  At each end of the film strip is a small adhesive section.  This enables the strip to be attached to clothing or vehicles.  Adhesive is on both sides of each strip.
