This section is dedicated to pictures of the 'Kiev' Class VTOL aircraft carrier. Our pictures are all authentic and were taken at some time when the ship was in active service. We will add more photographs as they are acquired, but until then, will do our best with what we have.
The stern view of the Novorossiysk Here is a picture taken of the Novorossiysk that was taken by the United States navy during the 1980's. On the rear deck several Yak-36 'Forgers' can be seen. A Ka-25 'Hormone' helicopter is also visible at the far end of the flight deck. |

A portside view of the Minsk (No 025) In this photograph you can see four of the Minsk's helicopters on deck. The forward missile pods can also be clearly seen. This picture was taken by the US Navy, but it does not give either the time nor location of where it was taken. |

A rear starboard view of the Kiev This picture of the Kiev was taken by the United States navy during the Cold War. A number of helicopters can be seen operating at the rear of the carrier, and on several of the flight pads. |

The Kiev in color Here is an interesting stern view of the Kiev in color. A number of crewmen can be seen on the main deck and on the lower deck near the camera. The photo gives no clue as to where it was taken or when. |

Another view of the Minsk (No. 025) In this picture you can see the Soviet carrier Minsk with a group of four helicopters on deck. Unfortunately the picture has such high contrast that exact details are difficult to see. What is unusual is the US helicopter hovering above the carrier in the picture. This picture was taken in November of 1986 by the US Navy. No location was given in the photo. |

Firing Chaff Here you can see the Minsk (this time with pennant number 117) launching chaff. This picture was taken by the US Navy on 27 June 1979. No location was given with the photo. |
