The Hind-E in flight

Here is a picture taken on March 1984 of the Hind-E helicopter as it flies over water.

Its unusual camouflage pattern can be clearly seen in this photograph.  Under the tail the yellow 'danger' label can also be seen.

Hind-E forward view

In this picture we have another Hind-E as it banks towards the camera.  It offers a good view of the helicopter's rocket pods, chin turret, and anti-air missiles.

This picture was also taken on March 1984, but no location was given in the description.

Ground Crew and the Mi-24D

Here you can see two air force ground crew soldiers who are in the process of placing a cover over the twin canopies of a Hind-D helicopter in the middle of winter.

This picture is also very good because it shows many small details of the helicopter.  You can see the front windshield wiper, the open side hatches, and several of the probes and antennae.  Subtle details of the rotor blades can also be seen.

The Hind-F in Color

This photo shows the Hind-F variant.  If you look closely at the nose you can see the twin side mounted cannon of the Hind-F.

This picture was taken over the Sea of Japan on 7 October 1989.

Mi-24 Hind Squadron in flight

Here you can see a group of four Mi-24 'Hind' helicopters as they fly at low altitude.  These aircraft are Hind E variants - noticeable by the small black radome on the lower left side of the cockpit.  It is a radio antenna for the Spiral anti-tank missiles.

This picture is from a Soviet source and has no date or location.

The 'Hind' in U.S. Service

Here you can see one of three Mi-24 helicopters that the United States managed to acquire.  They were used for training and evaluation purposes.  This one is named 'Patience'.
