More about the uniform...
The winter tritsvetnaia kamuflirovannaia odezhda (TTsKO) uniform was first fielded in 1982. It was most commonly seen with airborne forces in Afghanistan, although army and naval infantry units were also issued the uniform. It is also known as the "three color" or "woodland" pattern in the West.
It is very similar to its summer counterpart with the primary difference being that a thick liner with grey false fur collar is attached to the inside of the jacket. The trousers are also thickly insulated. The pockets are all secured by buttons and a drawstring around the waist helps improve the fit somewhat. The trousers are also fitted with suspenders to keep them in place. There are cloth ties attached to the bottoms of the trouser legs as well. The uniform is very cumbersome and difficult to move in, but is exceedingly warm. This example is size 46-1 and is dated 1987.
