These patches are worn by sailors to denote their fleet and branch of service. The Russian Navy patch to the right is a standard navy patch for those sailors not attached to a specific fleet. The remaining four patches are worn by men who are members of the fleet named on the patch. The four fleets are the Baltic, the Northern, the Pacific, and the Black Sea fleet.

These patches are worn by members of naval squadrons serving within specific fleets, in this case, the Northern Fleet. They are worn on the right sleeve. |

Naval Aviation Patches
(1) These patches are worn by naval aviation units of the Northern Fleet in the 1990's.

The troops of the naval infantry were originally only issued a basic service patch which resembled the Soviet era design (seen at right). Within a very short time however, the naval infantry began developing a large number of very colorful designs for their various units.
