The unique stock of the SVD can be seen here. It was made this way to reduce the rifle's overall weight. A post in the rear of the stock is where the sling is looped, while the padded cheek rest is attached to the top of the stock. It also has a metal buttplate on the rear. |

Here are some detail pictures of the SVD's 10-round magazine. Other 5-round magazines can be seen in the picture at the right. The three piece cleaning rod and other elements of the cleaning kit are also shown. The smaller parts of the cleaning kit fit within a capsule much like those of the SKS and AK series weapons. The capsule also has a built in wrench that can be used to adjust the gas port. |
