The Soldier is Wearing:
The soldier in this picture represents a typical Soviet infantryman of the early 1970's.  He is armed with the LPO-50 flamethrower and wearing the SSh-60 helmet.  Under normal conditions he would normally wear suspension gear, a gas mask, and other field kit.  His specialized weapon precludes the use of such equipment.. The picture below shows more detail.
