Uniforms of the Soviet Army
(1988-1991)

As with the uniform changes of the early 1980's the uniform changes of the late Soviet era were also selective.  Only specific uniforms were replaced or modernized.  It should be noted than the vast majority of uniforms worn during this period were those of the 1969 regulations, while others were from the 1985 reforms.  Some of those that were changed reflected the Soviet experience in Afghanistan, while others like the VSR camouflage pattern was an attempt to extend modern camouflaged uniforms to the entire army.

More uniforms will be added as they are acquired.  In any case we will attempt to have detailed descriptions of each uniform along with a photograph of the uniform being worn.
