The Order of the October Revolution was awarded to citizens of the Soviet Union and other nations for revolutionary activity, significant contribution to the establishment or consolidation of Soviet power, or gallantry and valor displayed in combat.  It was also awarded for improving the peace between nations.  It is considered to be the Soviet Union's second highest award and could only be awarded once to each recipient.

The first Orders of the October Revolution were awarded on October 4, 1967 to the cities of Moscow and Leningrad for the contributions of their citizens to the revolution.  On February 22, 1968 it was awarded to the cruiser Aurora.

It has been presented to many distinguished leaders of the 'world revolutionary movement' as well as numerous scientists and people of the arts.

  

Order of Labor Glory 3rd Class Ribbon

This ribbon was awarded with the medal, and was worn when the full medal was not authorized (such as on off-duty uniforms).

Order of The Friendship of Nations
and Award Booklet

This award was established in commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the Soviet Union.  The order was awarded for strengthening friendship and cooperation between socialist nations as well as for significant contributions to the economic, cultural, and socio-political development of the Soviet Union. 

It could be awarded to both Soviet citizens as well as foreigners.  The order has been bestowed upon cities, districts, provinces, autonomous republics, military organizations, and other institutions.

The first Soviet recipients (civil aviation workers) were awarded the order on December 29, 1972.  The first foreign recipient was Nguen Thi Binh of the Republic of South Vietnam.  He was given the award on March 7, 1973.
